OH MY GOD IT’S AN ACTUAL STRIP. HOLY TOLEDO, BUTT MAN!!
ARE YOU KIDS READY FOR SOME PSEUDO SCIENCE!? Some soft sci-fi? Some garbled-y-gook?
HERE IT IS:
The follow up from strip number five, just in case it’s been to long since I posted the last one.
It’s all text to explain what she is drawing!!! (Yay!) I didn’t draw a lot because I didn’t know how big the text was going to be! (Yay!) They are also small and poorly drawn because I can’t draw science things, and did no research on how too! (Yay!) And other features you want and expect from comics: a character claiming to invent/do a thing that the artist was no idea about what so ever! (Seriously, no engineering background, forgot most of natural science stuff from earlier schooling, and knows relatively nothing about these things).
So Fatima is into science-y things, specifically inventing and engineering new stuff, like her Father. With some minor help with her dad, she wanted to design commercial batteries for devices that take Lithium batteries, and this is the idea she developed.
So, these are things I want to clarify in later strips, but just in case there are some issues I wanted to bring them up now (And if I have a comprehensive list I hopefully won’t forget to bring it up later.
BUT SPOILERS and stuff. Yeah:
I have no idea if this would work in real life. I have no knowledge of the fields it would take to make some of this.
I also don’t know if things like this already exist, or are being designed, as of this moment. Being that I am not in the field, I don’t know what has been patented. If it hasn’t and if it works, I CALL DIBS.
The high-efficiency motors were something Fatima’s father built years ago. Except some minor modifications, the motors have already been tested so they would already know the would work. Except for the tweaks they will make.
This is not Fatima’s first design, as by the title. She already has a working model at home, built primarily by her with some help from dear old Dad.
Obviously, a crank would not be practical if she wanted to make it for devices. That’s why she and her father were going to re-work the motors so that you could tap or shake them to start the spark.
She was going to look at the new specs for the motor that she had drawn, and compare them with designs of the prototype they built. Suzie saw her flip back to the original, and THAT’s when she asked what Fatima was drawing.
Fatima’s father hooked up a modified 3D printer with a machine he built. He feeds scrap metal into the machine and then the 3D printer can use them to create small objects, like Car models and things. With this, they can scale Fatima’s prototype down and mass produce the batteries., to sell at retailers like RJUSTS. (RJUSTS is a store. More on that in later strips).
Fatima’s father and the owner of RJUSTS know each other, and this will give him and his daughter an “In.” Also, they will make their batteries cheaper than competitors, so that will give them an “In” too.
I think that covers it. So, yeah ENJOY THE FACT THAT THIS STRIP ACTUALLY CAME OUT ON WEDNESDAY.
